In a press release issued today 3D Systems and Alibre announced that they would offer bundles of Alibre Design and 3D printers. In recent times Alibre has been focusing on the DIY space. 3D Systems has also been watching that maker market closely. Alibre and 3D Systems will promote these bundles at the Maker Faire on May 21st and 22nd to be held in the San Francisco Bay Area.
There are two bundles – personal and professional. The personal bundle is priced at $1,500 and clubs a license of Alibre Design Personal Edition with a 3D Systems RapMan 3.1 3D Printer kit. You need to actually assemble the 3D printer yourself, which in itself is quite interesting. I haven’t done it myself. But one day, sooner than later, I intend to.
The BFB range of printers come pre-assembled and are suitable for an office environment.
