Autodesk Manufacturing Tech Day – Q & A with Buzz Kross

Today the CAD press in attendance at the Autodesk Manufacturing Tech Day event was treated to a flood of information that they will need some time to digest. Over the next few days I hope to post more about the event. I am not sure whether I will be able to do that because I am traveling to Richardson, Texas, tomorrow morning to visit Alibre and then moving over to Scottsdale, Arizona, for COFES 2010. But for now I will start with the end. The last item on the agenda was a Q & A session with Buzz Kross, Senior Vice President of the Manufacturing Solutions Division of Autodesk. Here are a few quotes that I found interesting:

“We have a plan for the Inventor Fusion standalone application. We are not ready to disclose it yet. After Carl Bass you will be the first to know. ;-)”.

“Carl is an unusual CEO. He is one of our toughest customers.”

“Dassault Systemes finds it insulting that we end up constantly fighting CATIA”

“Our mission is to have a fanatically loyal customer base”

“Why would anyone want to run Inventor on a Mac 😉 But seriously, a Mac version of Inventor would be interesting.”

“Inventor is not actually a web app. The cloud is meant for something else.”
