Dassault Systems Announces SolidWorks Electrical

Yesterday Dassault Systems announced SolidWorks Electrical, a 2D schematic design tool, and SolidWorks Electrical 3D, an add-in for SolidWorks.

SolidWorks Electrical is Elecworks 2D, whereas SolidWorks Electrical 3D is Elecworks for SolidWorks, a SolidWorks Certified Gold Product developed by Trace Software International. There is a third offering called SolidWorks Electrical Professional which is a combination of the two.

According to this press release announcing the agreement between Trace Software International and DS SolidWorks:

DS SolidWorks will initially sell SolidWorks Electrical through selected SolidWorks VARs in specific geographic areas such as United States, Canada, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Elecworks continues to be available for SolidWorks customers in other areas (Asia pacific and Latin America) and is still globally marketed as elecworks for non-SolidWorks equipped customers or customers wishing to implement only 2D schematics design. Trace Software will keep on selling worldwide elecworks to electrical and automation engineering offices and to non SolidWorks users’ companies.
