Delcam Asian Technical Summit 2011 – Day 1

I am in Zhuhai in China to attend the Delcam Asian Technical Summit. The event kicked off today with a dinner this evening where Peter Dickin, Delcam’s head of marketing, introduced all the country heads of the Asian region and spoke a little about their operations. Here is a panoramic view of the banquet hall of the Grand Bay View Hotel in which the event is being held.

Delcam being a UK company invited the British Consul General Alastair Morgan to speak at the dinner.

Among other things the Consul General said that China needed to change from “Made In China” to “Innovated in China”. He also didn’t waste the opportunity to extend an invitation for Chinese companies to invest in the UK. Not that an invitation is really required these days. šŸ˜‰

The Delcam event will continue for two more days during which we will be taken to visit two of Delcam’s customers in Zhuhai. This is a welcome change from events which have one presentation after the other with coffee breaks in between.
