SolidWorks World 2010 (Day 2) – Some Cool Stuff

I must admit that today’s general session knocked the wind out of many in the audience, myself included. It looks like SolidWorks has been very busy cooking up its own tricks. Here is something cool. Click the images for larger views.

This is a sample model that SolidWorks calls “The Jaws of Life”.

Notice a spring inserted into the model space in the following picture.

Next one end of the spring is located at the pin of one jaw and the mouse is used to stretch the spring to locate its other end to the pin of the second jaw.

After that happens the system understands whats going on and snaps the jaws shut.

This looks really cool when you see it happening live. And in case you didn’t notice, all this is happening on a Mac. Which simply goes to make it more cool.

I’m loving it.

    on a mac? Do tell!

  • It's all happening in the cloud. So Mac or any other OS does not matter.
