Horseback Riding In The Desert

Yesterday I took a jeep ride in the Sonoran desert. Today I decided to try another mode of transport – a horse. I have ridden horses in the past. But nothing too adventurous. Only once before did I actually gallop on a horse. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. It took some time for me to synchronize my vertical motion with that of the horse. Till that happened some harm was already done, if you know what I mean 😉

Here are some pictures.

My ride

No galloping this time. Just a slow walk in the desert.

Thanks to the two hours of horseback riding, I am now nursing a sore butt. Tomorrow my butt will be nailed for hours on end to another kind of a saddle – a airplane economy class seat. I definitely do not look forward to that. But I am glad that I will finally be able to make it home.

  • It's always better with a horse than with a Jeep! Why? A horse doesn't need gas to start, only a good “hiii!” 🙂
