Roaming In Shanghai – Part 2
<< Part 1
My flight back to India leaves at 10 pm tonight. So Daniel and I decided to scout around Shanghai a little more today. Here are some pictures.
We walked past the construction site of the Shanghai Tower
Between the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center
Since yesterday I have been looking for a better case for my iPad. The one that Apple offers is horrible. Its basically a magnet for dirt and does not have a place to keep anything else like business cards, a small note book, pen, etc. Daniel suggested that we try the knock-off market. So we took the subway and headed to a place called Shanghai A. P. Xinyang Fashion & Gifts market. Here fashion involves duplicate clothes, watches, etc. of world famous brands. Gifts include knock-offs of iPhones, iPads, BlackBerrys and just about every electronic item that has been duplicated. And of course, there was software as well – AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA V5 and a bunch of titles from Microsoft and Adobe. This reminded me of the time when I went looking for pirated software in Mumbai (see “A Close Encounter With Mumbai Pirates“).
This “Rolex” watch was priced at 680 RMB ($100) and came complete with serial number and all. The guy came down to 200 RMB ($30)
Unfortunately I couldn’t get the iPad case I wanted. Maybe someone on eBay will have what I’m looking for. And last but not the least.
