SolidWorks World (Day 3) – Special Event
This year the SolidWorks World special event was held off site at a place called Cowboys Dancehall. Apart from the usual abundance of booze and food there was a rock band called LC Rocks from Austin, Texas, to entertain us.
The much talked about mechanical bull riding didn’t happen. However there was a real bull riding show put on by a bunch of professional bull riders.
It was kind of a competition where the riders were judged based on how long they could stay up on the bull or something like that. I happened to be standing at one corner of the ring next to one of the judges who was standing inside the ring. Before the show got started he walked up to the person standing next to me and said, “If a bull comes this way, I am going to climb up and jump in right where you are standing“. I thought to myself, “Yeah, this is going to be interesting“. I’m not sure I completely get this extreme sport. I mean it involves pissing off an already very angry bull and then running away from it. But it looks like a lot of fun, especially when you are standing outside the ring. I had seen bull riding on TV. But this is the first time I saw it in real life. Very exciting.
I hung out with the SolidWorks bloggers. Did I mention that there was lots of beer?
And a lot of fun? Here is Brian McElyea in full force.
And Alex Ruiz as well.
I have been to a few user events. I don’t think there is anything that comes close to a SolidWorks World.
