I mentioned earlier that I now have a boss. Actually I have two bosses and am still not clear how that is going to play out. One of the people that I will be reporting to is a cricket-crazy 3D printing gearhead called Rajeev Kulkarni, the VP of Global Engineering at 3D Systems. Rajeev will be accompanying me at COFES 2011 and I will be his host – the person who helps “freshers” get connected with other people at the conference.
My other boss will be Abe Reichental, the President and CEO of 3D Systems. One of my missions at 3D Systems is to get Abe to blog and tweet in a way that other employees get motivated to join in. 3D Systems is the typical large corporation grappling with the whole idea of social media. Our blog is pretty much a news outlet and the @3dsystems Twitter account is pretty much dead. So one of two things is going to happen. Either I am going to get Abe wired into social media or will get myself fired trying to. 😉
Today we invited the folks at Camtech Custom, the company in Summerville, SC, that customized Harley Davidson motorcycles, to 3D Systems head quarters in Rock Hill, SC. They brought a few of their bikes with them. Here is a picture of Abe on one of the motor cycles.
